D3 Action: Check the socio-economic impact of the project activities in the local area.
START: 1/07/2016 - END: 30/06/2018
As a result of this action, a round table was set up, coordinated by AdBPO and comprising the 4 Regions (Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Veneto) crossed by the River Po. On 15 June 2017, said Regions signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the sustainable and unified management of fishing and the protection of fish species in the River Po. Moreover, they set up an interregional Council and drafted an Action Plan.
As a permanent interregional advisory board specialising in sustainable fishing, said Council will ensure the unified and coordinated management of fishing on the largest Italian river, and will provide indications on how to actively fight various issues in the field, and how to develop the considerable potential of the Po River with regard to new forms of eco-sustainable recreational fishing.
The Council will also be involved with harmonising fishing rules on the River Po and pooling together the police forces to combat poaching, as well as ensuring the protection of native fish species and controlling and containing invasive alien species, also by means of specific repopulation activities.
